DBRfittings' 3-inch P-trap with solvent weld joint is a permanent, U-shaped plumbing fitting made of PVC (or ABS) used in drain, waste, and vent (DWV) systems. Its primary job is to prevent sewer gases from entering a building while allowing wastewater to flow out.
Installation & Usage Tips
Installing this fitting is a straightforward but irreversible process:
Cut & Prepare: Cut the pipe square and remove burrs from the cut edge .
Dry Fit: Assemble the pieces without glue to ensure they fit correctly .
Apply Chemicals: For PVC, apply purple primer to the outside of the pipe and inside the fitting hub. Immediately follow with an even coat of solvent cement .
Join & Set: Insert the pipe into the fitting with a quarter-turn twist to spread the cement. Hold firmly for about 30 seconds to prevent the pipe from pushing out .
Cure: Allow the joint to cure. For a 3-inch pipe, this can take anywhere from 15 minutes to several hours depending on temperature and humidity before it can handle water .
