Its primary purpose is to reduce the size of a fitting's outlet in a way that creates a smooth, uninterrupted interior pathway for waste flow.
The key characteristic that sets it apart from a standard bushing is its design: one end has a hub (or socket) that accepts a pipe, while the other end has a spigot (or male end) that fits inside another fitting. This "spigot" end is designed to sit flush with the interior wall of the host fitting, minimizing flow disruption and preventing clogs.

Material: Made from ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene), a durable, black thermoplastic known for its:
Corrosion Resistance: Impervious to the acids and chemicals found in household waste.

Flush Design: This is its defining feature. Unlike a standard bushing that is inserted entirely into a hub, the flush bushing has a built-in stop or a specific length that allows its spigot end to sit perfectly flush with the inside of the receiving fitting. This maintains a smooth ID (Inner Diameter).
Size Configuration: Bushings are identified by two sizes. The larger size is the hub (which fits into the main fitting), and the smaller size is the spigot (which accepts the smaller pipe).
Example: A 1½" x 1¼" Flush Bushing has a 1½" hub that fits into a 1½" fitting, and a 1¼" spigot that accepts a 1¼" pipe.
